Cosmetics Unmasked - Common Sense and Cosmetic Safety

The responsibility for cosmetic safety falls into four areas. The regulating authorities set the ground rules for the safe production and sale of cosmetics and toiletries, and they police the industry, taking action whenever the rules are infringed or new problems arise. Reputable manufactures follow these rules and work to the highest possible standards to ensure the consumers' safety. The retailers, hairdressers and beauticians make sure the products are safely stored, used correctly and sold hygienically and they are available to give professional advice when needed. Finally, you are responsible for the safe keeping and use of cosmetics and toiletries in your home. And it is here that many problems start. This chapter sets out a list of common sense precautions that will make your bathroom cabinet safer.
